The challenge of monitoring driving behavior to improve driver safety

Before implementing our solution, Cimemprimo struggled to monitor drivers’ driving behavior and improve road safety. This was because the company needed to assess the quality of driving and the driver’s work process while they were at the factory loading goods.

Since drivers rotate between vehicles, it was difficult to identify which driver was in a specific vehicle. Additionally, the company needed telemetry and video telemetry to improve driving behavior and reduce the number of accidents.

The main result was an improvement in kilometers driven per incident.

To put this into context, km/event or kilometers driven per event is a performance metric used in fleet management to assess the safety and efficiency of operations.

It is calculated by dividing the total number of kilometers driven by the number of identified risk events. These events may include speeding, sudden braking, and cell phone use while driving, among others.

The greater the number of kilometers driven without incidents, the better the performance and the safer the operation.

From December 2023 to February 2024, Cimemprimo achieved a 20% improvement in kilometers driven per recorded event.
